Jen made me three new icons to play with. Yea!! Thanks, Jen. :-)
I needed a boost this afternoon. Had a doctor's appointment with a gynecologist I've been seeing for the last 5 years. When I arrived at the office earlier this afternoon, I was informed that she was no longer in my network as of June 30. What really pisses me off is that no one wants to take responsibility for letting patients know when this happens. The insurance company says it's up to the doctor's office, the doctor's office says the insurance company should be keeping up-to-date records and informing patients. In the interest of accepting personal responsibility, I asked if this is something *I* need to check every year when I make the appointment. Guess what I was told; the scheduling department of this particular doctor's group wouldn't have the information on hand anyway. So what, we're supposed to guess if we can go to the same doctor year after year? Give me a break!
After searching around I was able to find another doctor whose office is not only nearby and taking new patients, but can see me in less than six weeks. According to the secretary at this office there are a number of people in my area who are finding themselves in the same boat, so appointments are being canceled right and left.
Maybe these doctors should get together on July 1 of every year and run an ad in the paper showing which insurance networks/plan/providers/etc., they are no longer accepting. Might make life easier for patients and scheduling secretaries alike.
BTW, ran a spell check before posting and it tried to tell me that "I've" and "wouldn't" were problematic. LOL! Here are the suggestions given. Gotta love spell check. *g*
